Roppongi

Roppongi is a very popular site for the foreigners. When the WWII ended, the Americans took over this area. Then, the locals built American-styled groceries, restaurants, bars and nightclubs for them. As the Japanese culture started accepting the American influence aggressively, Roppongi became more and more popular, especially among young Japanese who have interests in the western culture, and the foreigners. The beginning of the disco culture in the late 1960s encouraged the expansion of Roppongi. During the economic bubble in the 1980s, tens of discos were built.

Roppongi Hills
In 2003, the Roppongi Hills buildings were built. Located next to TV Asahi, they are the complex with commercial and residential buildings. Now, Roppongi Hills is the symbol of information and communication technology since there are many of the companies residing, and furthermore the symbol of richness. Hills Zoku is often used as the term for their representatives living in the residential buildings.

Almond
There are several famous sites in Roppongi apart from Roppongi Hills. Gaspanic has a nightclub, bar and café, and is targeting and popular among the Westerners. In the meantime, El Café Latino is a popular bar among the South Americans. Almond is a café and because of its convenient location, is popular as a space to wait for someone.
