Ethnic Festivals
Tokyo is a multicultural city. Capitol of Japan provides various kinds of business and jobs to people from many different countries. In the meantime, the Japanese have been highly interested in other cultures since they opened their country. In Tokyo, you can find ethnic restaurants from China, Italy and Thailand to Israel, Peru and Egypt. You can buy ethnic goods too. Unlike those ethnic communities outside Japan, the Japanese are the main target for those services here in Tokyo.

Aiming at those with high interest in other cultures, some ethnic communities hold festivals. You can find them throughout the year though most of them are held in holiday seasons. Some are led by embassies so that they are even held in their garden. The most popular one would be the Thai festival. On weekend in the middle of May, the Thai embassy holds a huge festival at Yoyogi Park. There are mostly Thai restaurants from all over Japan while some sell ethnic products such as jewelries and accessories. Some musicians have concerts, and some NGOs have displays. This festival has the 7-year history, and thousands of people join it every year.
