Dream Ryoma @ Kanko-maru, Nagasaki Hansen Festival

Nagasaki Hansen Festival is being held at Nagasaki Port (Apr.26-30).

Out of seven big sailig ships on this show, I especially would like to focus on Kanko-maru, which is the simbol of Ryoma Sakamoto’s hope !

This is the replica of the sailing ship that Ryoma actually boarded.

What’s wonderful about this festival is that you can board on it, and experience sailing for about an hour.

At the end of Samurai Period, Ryoma thought that sea is where he should be, the base where he can change Japan.

So he started Kaigun-juku (Navy School), got Kaigun-maru, and started using this Kanko-maru for practice, with his partner, Kaishu Katsu.

I am so excited to feel the dramatic history which really happened in this place, Nagasaki Port, and can’t help loving Nagasaki even more.
