Shopping in Ginza 1; find finest Japanese souvenir @ Kyukyo-do (fan, paper, incense), Kimuraya bakery, and Mitsukoshi (sweets and more)…
1. Writing material and Incense
Kyukyodo is the traditional (since 1663) and most popular shop.
They sell;
-traditional Japanese writing material, ink, brush, inkstone, special paper.
-Japanese caligraphy (Shodo) material
-letter set, postcards
-little envelope (Noshi-bukuro), to give money for celebration, such as giving New Years’ pocket money to children.
-Beautiful Japanese papers for craftwork (or for wrapping, book-cover)
-Japanese seasonal product, such as fan

2. Traditional Japanese Bakery
Another simbol shop of Ginza would be this Kimuraya, the long-running bakery shop with 138 years of history.
The standard and most popular one is Anpan, the bread with sweet beans paste inside, and they have seven varieties!
You can also see how Kimuraya bread is made (here)
It’s in the Kimuraya Building. 1st floor is the bakery shop (crowded in the evening!), 2nd is Cafe, 3rd is Grilled food restaurant, 4th is French type restaurant.
Open seven days a week.

3. Japanese Sweets as souvenir
If you’d like to find some fine Western and Japense sweets (see photoes)or food (for example, Lunch-box), the underground floor of Mitsukoshi department is my best recommendation.
They offer variety of delicious and beautiful foods in one place, and is just enjoyable.

Directly connected from station, just follow red Mitsukoshi notice board.
*Special thanks to my dearest friend Mary, living and working in Tokyo, for photoes of Kyukyodo, Kimuraya, and Hakuhinkan (Shopping in Ginza 2).
Clearest and most popular meeting place is Wako clock shop, the landmark of Ginza.
Closed every Sunday and national holidays.
it’s second next to Kyukyo-do, from Ginza Station go through A4 exit.
