Cool yourself with noodle? Enjoy summer food culture of Japan!

`Japan has four seasons’ is a very common plain sentence when people introduce Japan, which should also be explained as, Japan has four seasons to enjoy different seasonal food!

Not only beer and shochu-on-the-rock, cool noodle is the main summer food for lots of Japanese people, or even Messiah for those suffering from the crazy heat wave.




reimen 01

This is Korean style, and is called reimen, meaning cool noodle usually topped with egg, roast pork, bean sprouts, tomato, and cucumber. The soup taste sour (of vinegar) and sweet.




somen 01

This is somen, vermicelli noodle made of kneaded wheat flour, stretched into thin strips using vegetable oil. Price is usually around 1,000 yen.




To enjoy cool noodles, try either noodle restaurant, Japanese, Korean or Chinese restaurant.
Also Japanese people eat these cool noodles mostly as lunch.
