“Touge station” is in the mountain in a snowy district.

①This station is an unmanned station.



②The feature of this station is the rice cake confectionery called “Touge no chikaramochi ”

  meaning is a rice cake to supply energy to travelers”.  There isn’t a station employee, but every time a train arrives, a salesperson comes to sell it.

③There is the station in the mountain, and there are only several houses in surroundings.

④When it is winter, it snows very much, and this neighborhood is buried under all snow.

  Therefore the whole is covered in a snow shelter, and the station seems to be the station in the tunnel.



⑤A station name “Touge” means a mountain pass.

  The train did switchback here until 1990.



⑥It’s possible to go from here to “Namekawa Onsen hot spring” and “Ubayu Onsen hot spring“.
