Jindaiji Temple’s official name is Tendai-syu bekkaku-honzan Fugakusan Shorakuin Jindaiji. Founded in 733, the temple is the second oldest one in Tokyo next to Sensoji Temple.
The temple bell and the Buddha statue made in Hakuho period are designated as cultural assets of natural importance. The approach to the temple is lined with soba shops serving a local specialty, Jindaiji-soba, and others. The daruma fair held on March 3 and 4 every year attracts widespread popularity as rites of spring in Tokyo.
