Atsuta Shrine (Powerspot)“Kodaman’s J-TRIP”

There are three God vessels in the story of Shinto. One is the mirror called “Yata no Kagami”  in Ise Shrine. Another one is “Sword” called “Amanomurakumo no Tsurugi” In Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya. It is said that this sword was used by “Susanoo no mikoto” for the battle against “Yamatano orochi” which was a snake having eight heads. Last one is “Yasaka no Magatamaar”  in the Imperial palace but nobody can be allowed to see it.

Here is Atsuta Shrine’s web site in English.

In terms of Architectural technique, the style of Atsuta Shrine is as same as its Ise Shrine. This style is called “Shin mei tsukuri”(神明造り).   I don’t think many people really care about the style. But if someone is interested in architecture, please check Ise shrine. it’s same.

[Access]

Tokaido line (orange)  less than 10min from Nagoya station to Atsuta station. From Atsuta station, it takes 4min on foot.
Taxi  about ¥1000 or less from Nagoya station.

[Tips]

There is a very famous restaurant which is called “Houraiken”(蓬莱軒)  next to  Atsuta Shrine.  Hitsumabushi (Ungai Don) is one of the Nagoya specialty.  love to eat it.

I fortunately saw a wedding ceremony at Atsuta shrine and it was wonderful. Maybe most weekend many couples have a wedding ceremony there so you can fortunately see them with Kimono in Shito style.
