IKEBUKURO Station

“Ikebukuro” locates in Toshima district which is west part of Tokyo. It is known as a commercial&entertainment city same as Shibuya&Shinjyuku. If you go to the station, you will lost way to get out.The reason is the length of way to cross the station… around 100m to opposite side! During the way, you have to face 500 people, can you believe that?? Anyway, it is boring and tiring moment by living in Tokyo although people love it… I will explain about one of the largest station building @Ikebukuro. Department store called “Seibu”, “Toubu” and “Palco” are in the station building. Seibu&Toubu are train company based department , that are the reason they connect to their local train such asTobu-toujyo-line and Seibu-ikebukuro-line. Palco is department-based company which has around 40 branches accross this country.Three of them are targeting different types of customers.Palco-10s to 20s of youngers who love from outlandish to fashionable. Seibu-20s to 30s of men and women who wear casual to stylish.Toubu-30s to 50s who like to wear expensive brand clothes and accessaries. So Ikebukuro-station can be shopping by most generations. That is the reason people love here. However, Ikebukuro was not thriving as large tarminal station by 1930s. Before that time, it was small terminal located in fields. The beginging of thriving Ikebukuro-station is opening Kikuya (Seibu at present) department store in 1930s. Following that, Tokyo-citytrain built up terminal in Ikebukuro, then people was coming up to station area. In Tokyo, there are over 30s of train-lines are they all contribute to developing station& surrounding area. Now, no one deny that Ikebukuro is one of main area as terminal and commercial&entertainment town in Tokyo. The development are with train and the people who use lines. Ikebukuro is hugely owning by those profit.
