What Japan’s Best Wants from the United States

Toyota Motor Corp makes the best cars in the world.
Toyota is the most profitable auto maker. Toyota sells the most cars. Toyota cars last longer than a ll others, except for that occasionally well maintained Chevy or Ford pickup.

But, where does Toyota go when the company wants the most advanced technology? when the company wants to make strides in:

1. energy

2. environmenttoyota.research.jpg

3. safety

technologies?

Toyota has set aside $25 million for each of the next four years = $100 million (10 billion yen) to be used at its Toyota Research Institute in……Ann Arbor, MI, USA.

Toyota is setting up school in the heart of America’s Big Three country.

But, the question is, is this a NEED of Toyota or a WANT?

Does Toyota need to learn from the U.S. or is Toyota making efforts to be loved by the U.S.?

Until now, Toyota has done its research in Japan. But, it’s also true that the if you want to learn something, the U.S. is the place to go. Not the only place, but the leading place.

It’s my opinion that Toyota is setting up shop in the U.S. just to keep the peace, to make a contribution, to be a good sport.

What do you think?
