Japanese Body Language - 頭数

Japanese Body Language -

頭数[あたまかず, atama-kazu] headcount; number of persons

The first part atama = head. kazu is number.

The Japanese are no different than Americans, say preachers for example.

When they want to know how many people showed up for an event or for the worship service, which by the way, doesn’t happen much in Japan, they will ask, how many heads did you count.

What was the 頭数?japanese.crowd.jpg

Planning a hanami, a trip to the beach, a company outing, a drunkfest?

Same question, same word.

As for me, I wonder how many people are reading this blog.

Same question.

This is an interesting article. Many men say "Atama kazu(頭数)" especially for a party. "We don't have enough "Atama kazu."! like this.
