Toyota Amlux – Ikebukuro

Late last year Japanese car giants Honda decided to pull out of the Formula 1 World Championship. Taking everyone in the auto racing world by surprise, thankfully Honda’s lead has not yet been followed by any others.

Still, Honda’s loss in this regard could well end up fellow Japanese automaker Toyota’s gain. Known far more for their globally respected range of family and sporty type motors, Toyota remains in the world of F1, continues to make headway on the big names of Ferrari and McClaren Mercedes and unbeknownst to so many in Tokyo has a permanent exhibition that features one of their very own F1 cars at the magnificent Toyota Amulux in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

Open 1100-1900 Tuesday to Sunday, with no cost for admission, this gem in the Higashi Ikebukuro landscape is a must see for any fans of the internal combustion engine or cars in general visiting the Japanese capital.

From the B1 floor up through the 4th floor, all is about Toyota, Toyota, Toyota! New models set to appear on the open market, interactive areas that can be enjoyed by the whole family and an area of slightly odd, futuristic type vehicles we may end up taking for granted one day can all be enjoyed, many sat in, all photographed.

Oh – and if you are in the market for a new Toyota, they’ll probably even give you a coffee on the house!

Accessed best by way of the underground walkway leading from Tokyu Hands to Sunshine City, Amlux is the entrance on the left after the two horizontal elevator type walkways – opposite the right turn for Sunshine.
