If the face fits…….

If the face fits, put it in – could be a standard phrase applied as advice for those walking around the streets of Japan’s ED (Electronic District) par excellence – Akihabara.

Everywhere you turn are the cardboard cut-outs seen around the world into which people of all ages ram their faces, grin and wait for the person on the front side to say ‘hold’ and snap a pic they will look at, smile at, then disregard for ever.

Unlike other cities around the world though, these cutouts are more than just train drivers and policemen – these are maids, superheroes and cartoon characters.

Seriously though, stubbled and fancy seeing yourself in a maid’s outfit – but don’t have the legs for the frilly dress?

Then head to Akiba, find the right cutout and place the face.

As cute as a button and think you’d make Yata-man (pictured)look a tad sexier? Akiba it is.

The list goes on, the examples never ending, the opportunities endless. So, do as I did with Yata-man – and if the face fits……
