Apple Ginza – more than a fruit
Apple
It’s odd that so many Mac users know exactly where the Apple shop in Tokyo’s Ginza district is. Is it not? Most say they have been there, and, after a little more digging reveal their visit was linked to a broken machine.
The pros and cons of the various forms of computer out there notwithstanding, anyone visiting the Mac shop will leave with eyes wide-open, tech words spinning around the grey matter and a new found respect for the world’s Numero duo operating system, even if they understand but half of the exhibits they see.
As most may know, the Mac – Apple Macintosh to give it its fuller name – came into being in the year 1984, which makes it 25-years-old this year. Over the years, for a multitude of reasons, they have always played second fiddle to the regular Windows form PC and this will likely never change.
As imagery goes though, PCs do struggle to keep up with Macs and the appearance of the huge Mac store on Chuo Dori in Ginza – opposite the side Matsuya and Mitsukoshi (department stores) occupy – is an example par excellence in to back up the all important imagery concept of Mac.
A huge ‘apple’ seemingly cut out of the façade of the building, a steady stream of customers (not all lugging along broken machines it must be said) and a range of electronic goodies within to blow the minds of most, the store is well worth a visit – for the location and building as much as anything else.
And, if you are an Apple Mac man or woman – there is always the chance to pick up a few add-ons for your current machine – or to just upgrade or replace an existing possession.
