Weird drinks – but well worth a try
We are now in the month of April, soon it will be May, and many of the nation’s vending machines are in the process of having their ranges altered to reflect the rising temperatures and balmy days of Spring.
Many of the warm drink options (seen in pic) are being replaced with the run-of-the-mill types of drinks seen in vending machines the world over – fruit juices, coke, sports drinks and canned coffee – and while Japan and the Japanese are themselves big fans of such liquid fare, the onset of Spring now means that machines offering up such tasty, lip burning delights as the hot ‘n’ spicy pepper drink seen in the image, cafe au lait, hot tea (green or white) and even hot vitamin drinks – again pictured,
are becoming more difficult to find, gawk at and photograph.
Fret not though, as hard as these may be to find in the regular machines, there is always Akihabara with its wasabi juice, hot oden in a can and of course curry flavored ramune (a kind of locally produced lemonade). Tokyo really is, never, ever, boring.

Sup away - but be careful
