Urabandai Kogen Hotel – Fukushima

The Urabandai Kogen Hotel in the Bandai region of Fukushima is a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life like very few others.

The hotel itself is set in extensive grounds with its own strolling course around a reasonably large lake to the rear of the hotel pleasant at any time of the day or night.

Looking out over the lake, and a view shared by all the onsen facilities in the hotel, the imposing figure of Bandai-san comes into view. Bandai-san, an active volcano, itself erupted in the late 19th century, in the process helping form the ever popular series of colourful lakes just a short walk from the hotel – the aptly named five coloured lakes due to each appearing a different shade at different times of the day.

Inside the hotel, naturally heated hot springs can be enjoyed by all, and the rooms, available in Japanese or western style all look out onto the tree lined, grass covered grounds.
