Yanagi-ya is one of the most popular Taiyaki-store in Tokyo. Taiyaki is Japanese authentic sweet which include Anko, made from blace bean. When you reach Yanagi-ya, you have to make a line inside the store and may wait about 10 minutes. While you wait, you can watch that artisan cook Taiyaki by gripping really hot pan! One taiyaki costs 120 yen in this store, one or two Taiyaki is sufficient for one person. This store closes on Sunday. This store is one minute walk from Ningyo-cho station, Hibiya line (gray-line).
There are typical Japanese sweets such Imagawayaki, Oshiruko or dango. Taiyaki using red beens is also typical. In tokyo, there are some famous Taiyaki ya. Both Yanagiya in Hama-cho,Ningyo-cho and Naniwaya in Azabu jyuban have served very delicious Taiyaki for long time. Its of Yanagiya is soft and Naniwaya’s one is a little bit hard but both are great!

Here is Naniwaya.

When I go to Naniwa-ya, it ’s always crowded. Even if it looks empty inside, many people already reserve Taiyaki. So I have to wait one or two hours to eat it. Sometimes I abandon eating it. S I recommend that ,first of all, one reserve Taiyaki when one arrive to Azabu Jyuban, then, go somewhere.

[Tips]

On second floor, people can eat cakes made by Wasanbon(a type of sugar) as of 2008 Feb. In addition to Taiyaki, Yakisoba(Japanese fried noodle) is also great Japanese-Showa-era taste.
